Commstar is a science fiction media franchise.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

The franchise is set within the territories of the star nation known as the Commonwealth of Stars. The nation, colloquially known as Commstar, is a representative parliamentary democracy. Protecting it is the Commforce (Commonwealth Defence Force), a highly trained, professional military that patrols its territory, safeguards its member systems against threats, and continues to explore uncharted space. The series centres around the adventures of the characters, and the challenges, relationships, and interactions which develop along the way.

Commgov[edit | edit source]

The Commonwealth Government. It consists of an executive, legislative, and judicial branch.

Premier[edit | edit source]

The head of state and government of the Commonwealth.

Praesidium[edit | edit source]

The legislative assembly of the Commonwealth, consisting of one seat for every member star system.

Central Court of Justice[edit | edit source]

The highest court of judicial review in the Commonwealth, consisting of one chief justice and ten associate justices.

Commforce[edit | edit source]

The Commonwealth Defence Forces.

Protocol[edit | edit source]

  • Action stations
    • Condition One - attack is present or imminent, ship placed on highest readiness

Ranks and uniform[edit | edit source]

Commforce uniform differs depending on if one is an officer, a non-commissioned officer, or enlisted. Officers wear a collarless light brown hip-length jacket over a blue shirt with turn-down collar. The tunic is fastened with Velcro. Non-commissioned officers and enlisted wear a light brown jumpsuit with a blue hem starting from waist level, running up to a blue turn-down collar. All ranks wear a belt of the same brown. All personnel wear a pistol holster, with a leg belt to keep the holster firmly affixed to the wearer's leg. Rank insignia for officers is worn as TBD, while non-commissioned and enlisted personnel wear TBD.
