The Immune[edit | edit source]
Background[edit | edit source]
As one of the more powerful factions within the Tennessee Valley, the Immune will play an important role in the future of the region. Based out of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, their focus is using science and engineering to help bring about a revitalization of the land in order to allow a restoration of civilization. To this end, they have worked exhaustively to restore and make use of the facilities at Oak Ridge, strengthening the defenses and security at the complex, turning it into a veritable fortress.
The faction got its name from its origins. Pre-War, volunteers brought to ORNL were a part of two top-secret biological research initiatives known as Project PATHWAYS and Project SILENT HERALD. The former focused on targeted biochemical modification to develop a treatment regimen that would allow its recipients to better withstand disease and a wide range of environmental contaminants, while allowing those thus treated to retain their humanity and normal physical form. This program was brought about as a result of mixed opinions on the success of the FEV project and was deliberately kept separate (and highly classified). The latter project, SILENT HERALD, was an offshoot of PATHWAYS which came about after it was discovered that DM-V5, the biochemical treatment developed by the PATHWAY team, was deadly to non-treated individuals exposed to it under uncontrolled conditions. This discovery led to the development of an extremely potent bioweapon known as LM-9. The Immune have kept the existence of LM-9 a secret, and the few samples that exist are kept locked away under very high security.
Organization[edit | edit source]
The Immune are led by a council of seven members known as the G3 Committee. These men and women are selected from among their most accomplished members. Under the leadership of the committee are two branches - Administrations and Research. The former consists of External Operations (managing contact with other groups and execution of all defensive and offensive actions), Facilities (handling maintenance, power and utility services, food production and housing), Internal Operations (responsible for internal security and safety), and Technical Services (overseeing the communications and computer systems). The latter consists of Biosciences (researching animal husbandry, agriculture, botany, and other environmental sciences), Engineering (researching machinery, materials sciences, and components production), Medsciences (researching medicine, surgery, and providing healthcare), Special Projects (researching specialized and secretive projects), Urban Development (researching urban planning, construction and architecture), and Weapons Development (researching weaponry, ordnance, defensive systems and combat equipment).
Members[edit | edit source]
Notable memebers of the Immune include Adrienne Flavia, Rex Glassvitch, Geoffrey Hopkirk, Jordan Langford, Levi Manderley, Steven Rexall, Jeremiah Ronson, Kyle Rutherford, Phyllis Truart, and Brendan Varshavski.
